Running Thoughts

Now that marathon training has begun I have found it has helped to have some "daily goals" on paper. Tomorrow I have 5 miles on the plan with 2 @ pace. Not really sure what that "pace" is, but I keep remininding myself that I at the beginning of the process. Be Nice. Be Nice.

Yesterday was a full day and it was almost 8:00 p.m. before I found time to run. I only had three miles to run but it felt like so much more. I knew this run was more about habit and committing to my plan. My mill is by a window so when it is dark all I see is my reflection in the window. This can make for a thought provoking run.
My running thoughts...
"Wow,my boobs look huge"
"Where did those come from"
"Hmm, maybe my extra pounds just went to my boobs"
"Nope, I have a tire bouncing around my waist"
"Not cool"
"My face is really red and I am at 1.5 miles"
"This is the longest run ever"
"Maybe the mileage is off"
"My pants are falling down"
"I think my underwear is now higher than my pants"
"How will I ever survive a long run"
"I can't wait to see that tire melt"
"Pretty sure the boobs will go too"
"Sigh"

In addition to marathon training this week has also brought my "first week" of classes. I am a bit overwhelmed with a research class that appears to be brutal. I can't even bear to look at the syllabus. I am also helping teach two sections for my Masters project. I am freaking to put it mildly. Quantative and Qualitative means nothing to me. Run away...now.

I need to get organized and that is not my strong point. I am so thankful for Run With Jess she has been making all sorts of fun Eugene training tools. My hubby was full of encouraging words today. I am one semester away from Masters and now is not the time to have a total melt down. So I put my melt down aside but promised him it will come later at most likely the worst time.

In attempts to distract myself from reality I got a great tip from Swim Bike Mom to check out the app LoseIt. Looked kind of fun and it was FREE. So today I plugged in my food and it appears I still have 200 calories to go? Surprising. Hoping it will help me shed a few. Even if that means downsizing my boobs.

Hope your week is off to a great start. I have been enjoying time at home (and not in a hospital)with my newly bald hubby. He is in good company....exhibit Dolvette.

Keep On Keeping On!

Your marathon training started well and I'm sure it will stay that way. I'm also at the start of some serious training. So far so good. All the best to you and your husband for 2013.

I think sometimes the earliest days of marathon training can be tough--just getting into the routine of things. Keep at it and it will get easier (for a while, of course!)

Glad Ryan is home and you can enjoy each other's company.

Hugs!

Each time I was in school it was that last semester that caused the most nutties! It was like just when I could see my goal all went crazy!! Hang in there!!!! Our gym used to have the treadmills facing mirrors...yeah it was interesting! Praying noting but health in 2013!!!

I had to laugh about the thoughts you were thinking about when you were running. My TM is by two windows so not only do I have a front view, but a nice side view as well. I am always thinking similar things and wondering why I look so horrid. :-)

Wow you have a lot on your plate. You are doing a great job and I can't believe you got your run in at 8pm! Nice work! Unfortunately, the only time I thought the "big boobs" thought was when I was nursing my kids:) They are all gone now:( so sad.

I saw a good quote somewhere that said "you know you're a runner when... your thighs get big and your boobs get small." I don't even fill an A cup anymore ;)

But seriously, I am amazed at your dedication. Your circumstances are beyond what I could imagine, and you are handling them with such grace and character, and FAITH.

Make Marnee and Meredith give you an extra hug from me next time you see them.

your thoughts made me laugh. I run down a street with storefronts - lots of windows. I often think "Dang! Where did that come from??" I purposely run down that street once a week to week to check out my reflection to see if I am making progress! HA HA

I'm on the Lose It app as well and I love it!!!! It makes it fun to track activity and intake with friends and we motivate each other!! Good luck on your marathon training :) I'm starting in a week!!!! How many weeks do you train for? This current plan is 18 weeks for me, but my last one was 16 weeks...18 seems so long! You will do great and I hope all is well with you and your family :)

I had to LOL at all the thoughts that run through your head when you were working out. I kept track of all my thoughts during my warm-up cardio and my mind was all over the place. I come up with some pretty random thoughts also.
