This is a test...10K

So today I was suppose to run a 10K as a test. Come on coach...test time already!!
The pace was suppose to be 8:13.

Ummm...not likely!

So since I live in the rolling hills of the Palouse there aren't many flat routes. I did debate driving to find one, but decided I would just run my regular route and see how long I lasted.

Mile 2-3 is all up hill...I typically like this and usually slow my pace to make it through the series of hills. Today I did not have that time to waste. So I ran hard and pushed up the hills. I think I ran harder today than I thought was possible. I just wanted the mile+ of hills to end! The quicker I got there the better! I left the house with this is impossible but I will have fun trying.

I WAS WRONG!

It was possible and not so fun! I think my mind ran that 10K my body just tried to keep up! I look forward to the day when I have the physical endurance to do this without so much pain!

I think I have been in my running comfort ZONE for months! As of today I have officially left my comfort zone. Not sure how 7 miles will feel tomorrow!! YIKES! So glad test day is over!!

MILE 1 7:47
MILE 2 8:54 (hills,help me)
MILE 3 7:56 (sucking air)
MILE 4 8:17 (legs burning)
MILE 5 8:30 (scared to look at watch)
MILE 6.1 7:25 (jello legs to the finish)

GOAL TEST TIME: 51 minutes 8:18 pace

MY TIME: 50:11 8:21 pace

Again...if you are dreaming about that 12,10 or 8 minute mile...go for it!! It's yours for the taking!!

Congrats!!! You totally rock. I want this so bad. Too bad my knees won't let me even try something like it. I'm hoping if I shrink, it will help.

Tests early on are GOOD, they give you the starting point to jump from.. Well since you PASSED with SPEEDY colors, you KNOW that you can go out of your "comfort zone" and live to tell the tale.

CONGRATS!! Hope the 7 miles goes well, if not you can mix up the days on your plan to incorporate rest..

High five!

I'm your newest follower. Found you from the Blonde Ponytail's blog.
Nice job on the run! I have a love/hate relationship with hills...love how they make me better & stronger, HATE how they make me feel in the moment!!!
Keep it up!

(P.S. You HAVE to open the new bottle. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."-Jeremiah 29:11)

GREAT JOB running buddy! You totally have to give yourself some huge props for lulling that out on a hilly course.

Enjoy your time in FL!
