Opportunities

Well I am back to running with low mileage. I have been trying to protect my feet and I have also been burried in life. Trying to be a grad student, consultant, wife, mom and coach can be tricky...especially during this time.

It has been a long 6 1/2 weeks of radiation for my husband. For those of you who don't know my husband was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in October and since then our life has been turned upside down. As shocking and scary as it has been we have been blessed by the people who have came into our lives because of it. My hubby is so strong!

Family, friends and the blogging community have been amazing! Miss Zippy (rock star athlete and blogger) told me about Ulman Cancer Fund who serves young adults dealing with cancer. Ulman was great as there is something about cancer that makes you feel alone and lost. Through a few conversations I learned about a huge event that would be raising funds and bringing about awareness. The next thing I know and I part of Rev3 and Ulman as a teammate running across America. WOW~!!

I have had mixed emotions over the past several weeks. Fear, anger, doubt, excitement and renewed strength. In three days I will get on a plane and fly to Oceanside,Ca to begin the journey. I have been RESTING my feet fighting injury. I am not in the best of shape BUT I know that if God has brought me this far that He will indeed carry to the end.

I have stopped asking WHY? I don't know why my hubby is having to endure so much physical and mental pain? The last few weeks of radiation were unbearable watching him hurt. Cancer can be a heavy burden to carry around and at times it feels as if it could crush you. However we are committed to fighting and not letting that happen. So many people have reached out to support us that I am PUMPED and SO THANKFUL that finally we are able to HELP others by participating in the Run Across America.

I will be joining the team from Oceanside to Phoenix and then returning to keep running on TEAM Davis RAA Virtual Team! Thank you so much to all of the bloggers who have reached out saying they will log miles and share more about Ulman for three weeks while the team runs acrosss America!! So cool!

Have you even relied on others during life storms and then had the opportunity to give back?

Please consider donating under TEAM DAVIS to help fight cancer!! More soon....before I head to sunny California!!

This is brief because I'm on the TM and can't type while running so it is just moving...cheating for me. I'll be back. Love to you. And I think this is awesome Harmony. Sometimes we don't know the why until much much later in life or never but good for you for trusting. xoxo

Harmony, you are so brave and strong, and so is your husband. It is not at all the same, but when we found out that Peyton, and then Brady, had autism, I was temporarily crushed. But the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and even professionals has been amazing. It definitely makes me feel like I want to give back!

What you are doing is awesome!

Sending you and your family so much love, Harmony! You are an incredibly strong and courageous woman. Just like your blog says - keep on keeping' on - and you will be on the other side of this. Run proud and stand tall - you are amazing!

Oh what an awesome opportunity. This post is so heart-felt. Thank you for sharing your emotions. I can't imagine. I have a friend who's husband lost his battle with pancreatic cancer 2 years ago at the age of 34. I think she felt very much alone no matter how many people were around her. I've stopped asking why as well. I wish you so much strength and I am so glad your heel is healing.

So sorry to read about how painful this is to go through- even as a spectator/cheerleader/wife. I am inspired by your outlook.

I didn't know there was a "run a cross america". Sounds like an awesome event!
