change of plans
Well after my last cheery post I have pulled laced up my running shoes and decided to get out of this funk. I did level 3 Shred on Thursday and my back and abs are still tonight! This morning I ran 7 miles with 4 at 8:35 pace! Hello....miracle!
Vacation did take away some of my momentum and I needed time to reflect on what and why I was planning on Eugene.
I really appreciate my Coach's insight and knowing that I need to be ALL THERE to take on marathon training. I have been distracted and bummed about a few things BUT I am relying on God and knowing that it is all in his hands...and moving on!
So instead of registering for Eugene I am going to run the Windermere Marathon in Spokane on 5/12. I am sad that I won't get my Eugene coat BUT I am sure I can find some sweet gear that will be my reward instead.
Here are the good things
Cheaper (as my hubby said..save $$$ for a real destination race)
Close to Home
Family will be able to be there
Local friends could come too (hint, hint)
Know people running half and full
2nd marathon in another state
I was looking forward to meeting some bloggy buddies in Eugene (but not the 8 hour drive)...but HOPE that I will still see them in October at the Girlfriend's Half in Vancouver. I am really excited about this race!!
I will most likely still be training solo but hope to get in a few runs with some friends as the miles climb. So thank you for the encouraging comments and following along on my journey! 26.2 is in my future and I know I can do this!!
Throughout the next 3 months of training I want to have fun, be kind to myself and know that I am weak and find all my strength in Christ!

Looks like some great things are happening with your running life! I think this decision is probably for the best. Your husband makes lots of good points. I still do the JIllian Trouble Zones tape more than the Shred even though I don't have trouble zones per se, I just really like it. Oh, guess what? My husband and I got in on a Hood To Coast Team for this year with my best friend in Albany, OR and her husband. I didn't register to the Girlfriends Half in Vancouver but if it is open then I'm still thinking about it.
I think you made the right choice. And FYI the Eugene Jackets were like $125...I got a long sleeve Nike top.. Just so you know :)
Friends, family, local, cross off another state... and best of all.. YOU ARE REGISTERED!! Hello, if that is not the first step I don't know what is.
Prayers with you as you take on this journey and realize the hidden potential you have. Confidence combined with proper training can make for some pretty killer results..
-Coach :)
I think that is a great plan...I'm planning on Eugene 2012...you should join me! :) So excited to meet you at Girlfriends Half. Keep up the hard work! oh, and amanda, if you read this...you need to sign up for Girlfriends!!
I am glad things are looking up
I just did level three this morning! :)
sounds like a great plan! Good Luck :)
Great run! I am getting ready to add some Jillian to my life : )
Sounds like you made a great choice! Congrats and good luck with the training.
Sounds like you are at peace with this! Excited to have you on board May 14th!
Many of your reasons are the same as mine for my May marathon. Sometimes, you have to do what works for everyon; otherwise your focus may not be there.
I applaud your decision. Sometimes what we want is not necessarily what is best and it becomes a tough choice. You made the right choice!
Yep, you made a good decision! I can't see any nagatives, really.
You will do great! You are off to a good start! We are here for you!!!
Awesome plan! I am glad to hear you are feeling better. great things are bound to happen for you, and I can't wait to read all about them! Thanks for sharing!
7 fast miles, congrats.
Great plan, here we have a similar problem: better a race in our city or in another beautiful place?
