"Tight" tights!

I am back home from a long week away from the computer. My week was filled with snow storms, crazy driving conditions, yummy turkey, and family! I am one of six so it can get a bit crazy but I am thankful for the time together. I haven been mentally preparing for this trip for awhile (for many reasons) and was happy to see my Piston 200 tights waiting for me when I arrived. I was so happy that my little sister was willing to run with me. We ran 2.5 miles (cautiously) as the ground was covered with snow and ice. It was cold and crisp 24 degrees! I was surprised how refreshing it felt. Seeing God's creation covered in a blanket of white seemed to make every thing sparkle! I made it out for two other 5 mile runs (solo) and felt good. So I needed 25 miles but left with a 21 mile week. Considering the holdiay, snow and being away from home I am HAPPY with that!

OK so on to the "tight" tights! First of all I never thought I would ever own conmpression tights for obvious reasons but knew that I am at a point in my running that I NEEDED them! So here is what happened when I clicked that button a few weeks ago ordering my FIRST pair of tights. All the information that I had gathered led me to think I needed to order a SMALL. It looked good on paper but would it look good one me??? So I debated SMALL...MEDIUM...SMALL...MEDIUM??? This is the message that played in my head..."Small?? Are you crazy? You aren't a small? What..you think you a small? So I debated and had visions of me trying to squeeze in to smalls and it wasn't pretty. UGH...so I ordered a MEDIUM. Well I do love them...the compression is great and kept my muscles nice and warm, BUT they are a little big. They gather just slightly behind the knee and I have a good inch or more at my ankle that is a bit long. Of course they are TIGHTS so you can't really tell, it is just something more that I feel when I wear them. My mom and husband both commented on how TIGHT my TIGHTS were! So I think I am OK! I really thought I had come so far but this showed me how those old NEGATIVE thoughts still hang around. It is a good lesson and reminder. I need to love on myself more (this is very hard for me) and own being a SMALL runner from time to time. Even though I have to add I am usually a MEDIUM.

Randomly I think this is connected to me not being a fan of conceited people who are tooting their own horn...especially in the running world. I guess I am still working of finding balance and being proud of where I may be..small, medium or large!

P.S. don't forget to enter the FAMILY FAN CLUB giveaway below! Also please I am looking to sign up for a ROCK N ROLL series run (half or marathon) not sure yet! I am guessing the Seattle one? today it the big cyber monday deal...let me know if anyone else signed up for one and where?? Destination race?

Finding the right size is a challenge for me too. I think I have mine right, but everyone keeps telling me otherwise. If the tights fit and feel right, then you're all set to trample through some snow. Have fun!

I just signed up for the Seattle Rock-n-Roll Half again for June. The price goes up $20 tomorrow.

I found the code SDSURVEY10 and it took another $10 off.

I wish sizes came like shoes, I would definitely be a medium and a half! : )

I hear what you're saying! It's hard... but, I've found that I've tried one too many of one size on only to walk away surprised and sure that it must be a fluke. You look fabulous in your "tight" tights!

Wow! I just read this (I miss posts with taking no computer days!). I just posted about this same issue...size. It does seem like there are 2 kinds of people, whose you love to tell you their size and those who don't realize their size.
I'm glad you like your tights. It is one of my fav parts of cold weather getting to wear my tights. Although I need a better pair!
