Run for Congo Women - www.runforcongowomen.org

So I am four days POST Marathon and still can't believe what an amazing experience and how many people have touched my life through this process. As many of you know I ran to raise funds as awareness of the needs of Congo Women. Running is so much more than time, and pace but often that is where we put our energy. Weeks before the marathon I began to notice how everyone I would bump into would ask me about the marathon or running. After awhile I was started to feel convicted...wondering if all people can see is that?? Don't they know that I gain all my strength from Christ? Getting consumed with something other than my love for God can be tricky and not where I want to be...but where running takes so many of us. The light of Christ is the light that I want to shine brightest over any other in my life. So I shared with a few friends prior to the race and really prayed, that after the marathon that I would know just what to say and that it would not be all about ME and my accomplishments. I just didn't know what that would look like?

TRUE STORY
So on Monday the day after I returned I took Sweet J to preschool and her teacher was the FIRST person I saw POST marathon. She immediately said " Good job! I am so proud of you! Do you feel so accomplished and successful?" The words kind of made me cringe. I responded by saying, " hmmmmmm, it just makes me feel like anything is possible". She finished it by adding...through Christ all things are possible. I responded, "yes, exactly!"

So later in the week I noticed on FB that Sweet J's teacher had an update on her family blog. So I went to her blog and found the answer to my prayer from previous weeks. So cool!

She mentioned how "a mom at preschool had just ran her first marathon" and recapped our conversation. She shared that she had been struggling with a few things that she may want to give up on. She went on and then ended her post with how she felt like my response..."that anything is possible" were just the words she needed to hear, and it was like God knew that was what she needed to hear at that moment. Wow....hello, how cool is that??? Sometimes we get away from out POWER SOURCE....but when we plug back in....anything is possible! This is what running a marathon can do....touch the lives of others and bring glory to God!

I love it!! So today I hope you are feeling inspired! I would love to participate or organize an official RUN FOR CONGO race! If you want to join me on that journey....let me know. Who know's what door God may open, and believe me...I want to be ready to run through!

HAPPY RUNNING!

Amazing.

I had read about the Run for Congo Women in Runner's World a few months ago. Very moving.

Congrats on it all!

Thanks so much for your post. I've been struggling with a lot of things lately but mostly just the push to get out the door every day and run. Too many excuses.

BUT... all things though CHRIST helped. :) Thanks!

I read the RW article on the Run for Congo Women over the summer. I seriously was crying on the elliptical. Just amazing, amazing people.

And I love this post. Such a great way to look at your experience.
