500 plus!!

Yippeee!! So finally the day has arrived. I just hit 500 miles on my journey to to 1000. Yes, yes I know I am way behind but it still feels great, especially after being unable to run for so many weeks! Today was a great day! Today was my long run of 14 miles! I was so happy to have my running buddy back in town to join me. We have been training on our own for most of the summer so it was great to be together again. It was a warm 14 miles with hills. There was silence, chatting, laughing and even a coyote sighting. I still have family from Georgia in town so when I returned home I was so happy to smell grits and bacon cooking! YUMMY!

During my ice bath and frequent bathroom trips (not sure what was up with that) I found this article in the most recent Runners World magazine. The words on the page resonnated with me and expresses how I am feeling so I thought I would share!

"Runners move with intention down this road called life. We pay attention to pace, knowing when to slow it down or pick it up. We dress for climate changes and revel in every season. We can tell stories that evaporate miles, yet we are comfortable with silence.

It is the runner in me who will age gracefully. It is the runner in me who understands the beauty of my body is in the things it can do, not the way it looks doing them. The runner in me understands that lines come from laughing on long runs and smiling into the sun. The runner in me is grateful for strong legs to carry me across finish lines. It is the runner in me who can make peace with her body and the passage of time."

Kelli Armstrong, Runners World, Sept 2010 issue

Pretty cool eh?? On top of hit hitting 500 and being with my running buddy we made great time. We did the half in 2:01 and did the 14 in 2:10!! A new half P.R.!

Hope everyone is have a great weekend and moving those feet! Also welcome new bloggy members...woo hoo 100+.

Great job! I just finished 500 two weeks ago; life often does get in the way. But, we persevere and that makes us stronger runners in the end.

Now, put up those feet for a bit!
