Time for a New Ticker....

Well after almost having a heart attack, freaking out, and talking, talking, talking about signing up for the Portland Marathon....I DID IT last night at 11:16 p.m. (cut off for discount was midnight) I spent time talking myself out of it and then I would talk myself into it for what seemed like hours. My poor hubby was so confused and tried his best to be encouraging. This is tough as he has no idea why anyone would want to do a run of any kind...but he is behind me!

You can only drag your feet for so long...and then it is time to do something. What will a marathon look like??? I have no idea?? Training?? I am lost?? This will all be new and very difficult. I don't have a running group, training team, or anything like that. Just how do you make the impossible...possible. I just finally found an amazing running buddy. So I will be coaxing and bribing her into many long runs I hope...otherwise I will be solo. I am also looking at running for World Vision...and organization that does amazing work around poverty and injustice around the world. So I will be running for many kiddos who don't have the luxury of bottle full of clean water after a run or a warm shower or an abundance of food like I do. Awareness is half the battle right??

Anyways I have to give a quick shout out to Staci at Impossible is Nothing. She has really inspired me and gave me the courage to TRY! This seems way out reach for someone like me, but I am going to go for it. I would love any thoughts or tips on the crazy idea of running a MARATHON. So stay posted there is sure to be many posts of panic and doubt BUT hopefully I will be able to KEEP on KEEPING ON!!

Dream Big!
(watch for my new countdown/ticker for MY FISRT MARATHON!)

Harmony, I'm so glad you did it. I signed up last night too :) I'll also need a new ticker. I went from only doing one 5K to doing Portland. I somehow did it with no running partners or support. I was even there alone the first time too. Most of my training miles for my first one was on a treadmill. I'm going to focus on losing a few extra pounds and looking back on what I did the first time. I think I over-trained in 2008 and didn't start tapering soon enough. I'll send you info on the hotel I use. I'm so excited that you are doing it too!!!!!
