Money Tree??
I am on REST a week. My heel has been a hurting unit. I am sure rest and ice will fix things. I am going to PT Thursday in hopes of getting a tape lesson and learn some excercises to help.
As I am banned to the "losing my fitness" club I have been thinking about 2012 and races. It seems every blog I see is listing RACES for the year. I'm talking 10-12 races. As of today I am running one race...a MARATHON (more on that later). I am not sure where everyone is getting their bling but I want some. I am starting to think money may just grow on trees? My husband assures me it doesn't but I thought I would check.
So send me your tips and how you do it? Coupons, discounts, early registration? If I can get 3 races in this year I will be thrilled and even that can add up to some cha ching!! Just sayin'
More to come but until then...
Be sure to check out my new Keep On Keeping On FB page.
I am also falling in love with twitter...so much fun. But definitely still a newbie. So come follow at KeepRunning01!
Happy New Year!

I subscribe to Active.com's Schwaggle deals for discounts on races. Registering early is only helpful if you know you can make it for sure. Otherwise I do coupon/sale combinations for grocery and household items and save money there so that I have some extra cash left over for races.
im with you, races are expensive..and if you travel for one that REALLY adds up! hope your foot feels better. Im in the same boat as you-sprained ankle and cross training :(
Host some free virtual runs! That will get lots of others still searching for that money tree to run w/ you!
I wonder the same thing on how people afford it...I pick very local and very small races since those two qualities make them cheaper
I have 4 races on my schedule. One (the half Ironman) was a fortune, like $250, but it was my 30th bday gift to myself. One race was free as I was given an entry by the race director. The other two I registered way early for. I use any $ I make coaching to support my racing habit so that it doesn't come out of our household budget. I really do wish there were a money tree though.
No money tree here, but man, I sure wish there was! Hence, you will never see 10-12 races on my schedule. I use birthday, Mother's Day and sometimes Christmas money. I've got LA, Eugene and Girlfriends on my schedule for the year. And if I'm completely honest, I'm trying to figure out how to add the Foot Traffic Flat to the too :) Maybe I'll go sell a kidney...
I haven't signed up for any races but the one I signed up for already last year, because of the cost. I want to do so many races, but I don't have a money tree either! I will probably end up doing only one or two other big races and then local 5 and 10 K's because I can't afford more, when my girls are grown maybe I will have more extra for races, right now I don't
I probably spend too much $$$$ on races, but I don't spend $ on a lot of other things and I don't have kids yet so I am enjoying it for the moment. I know that realistically in a couple of years, I probably won't be able to race as much. I give myself $1 for every mile I run and put it into savings at the end of each month. It adds up quickly and helps pay for some of my race registration fees.
I have become a Twitter addict--it is the best! Will definitely give you a follow.
As to races--I'd say sticking close to home is the biggest factor in money. Or if I'm traveling, I always look for a race. And the smaller, the cheaper. Good luck figuring out what you might do!
Our races for 2012 so far - 3 in May/June - were paid for with Christmas money. Actually, all 3 people wanted to pay for the same race, but we've spread it out. Thankfully they all know us so well. :)
If you find the tree let me know I would like some leaves!! I'm in the same boat as you.
So glad to hear someone else say that! I see all of these people with race(s) on their plate and I WISH I could, but just can't afford it! :) Nor can I find all that time! I only get 2 personal days a year. Great post today!
