Dreams do come true....(part 1)
I have to open this post with this clip of the great Michael Jordan! We all know he's got game!! I just love the aspect of athletics that involves working hard, dreaming and determination!!
P.S. you know I was a baller in my day. (well kind of)
Today I felt like Michael Jordan...I was jumping and yelling as I ran my final run to reach 1,000 miles. I had 7 miles to go and I wanted to run hard and "fast". I have been a little protective of my I.T. band and have been working on miles, but today I wanted to go for it. I put my Sugio tights on, my new bright ear warmer on and Family Fan Club marathon shirt and off I went.
It was cold, misting rain with wind. I wanted so badly to get 7 in under an hour and guess what...I did it! The last mile was a sprint trying to make up for lost time. I ran hard and tried to relax every muscle as I ran as fast as my short legs would take me. I have been reading "Run to Overcome" and Meb talks about the importance of relaxing your face. I knew this but I don't think I have really ever done it. Let's just say today my cheeks were flapping, lips hanging and spit flying! Man, running is fun!!
MILE 1 9:01
MILE 2 9:32 HILL
MILE 3 8:52
MILE 4 8:30
MILE 5 8:16
MILE 6 8:52
MILE 7 7:28
7 miles: 59:29
Avg. pace 8:30
What can I say I am blessed mama! 1,000 miles sounds pretty sweet!
*Started challenge late
*Injury and I.T.band issues
*5 weeks of physical therapy and no running
*Blisters with a mind and heartbeat of their own
*Training for my first marathon during Harvest (crazy if you hubby farms)
I perservered and made it!
Seriously...? Thank you God for being my constant source of strentgh and inspiration and placing Tall Mom in my life!
Watch for PART 2 (with pics)of this post soon ! Lots of thank you's, reflections, and a GIVE AWAY!!
