VBS is for adults too....
So I have been teaching VBS this week and wow....has God highlighted a few things for me. The first day was all about how we are all wonderfully and remarkably made by God and we are God's greatest creation. Psalm 139:14 Wow...when I marvel at the beautiful ocean, tall mountains and vast wheat fields, intricate animals...I can't even fathom that I am somehow more beautiful. What value we have in God's eyes and somehow life can chip and chip away at our worth. So many times I think about and highlight things that aren't good enough and need to be better about myself, but to God I am who he created me to be and that is...wonderful and remarkable.
OK so if that isn't enough today we talked about "Casting all your care upon Him because he cares for you". 1 Peter 5:7 Really?? Hmmmm that is funny, because I am plenty stressed about many things. My family, running, relationships, work, money...and the list goes on and on. Why don't I just let go and turn it over to God?
This week (only on day 2 so who know's what's to come) it has been interesting how I have always known these truths but sharing them with a bunch of 7 year olds and seeing their excitement and relief with the news....it just hit home. This always seems to happen with kids....reminders of how far I have strayed from God.
So I have had more time with God this week than I have had in a long time. I know I haven't been a very good friend to Him but as always he is there! So as I began my first week of MARATHON training today, I began with a different heart. Knowing that running a marathon will not make me any better or different than anyone else in God's eyes. He will still look at me as his remarkable child, know matter how I cross that finish line. So even though I have no idea how this journey will end...I know I will praise God! Praise God for my healthy legs, my family, my beautiful friends, and this spark he has given me to run and experience His beautiful creation!!
So I wanted to post this video from Brandon Heath, which by the way his CD is amazing and has some very upbeat moving songs that I plan on putting on the ipod ASAP. (more on that later) The song WAIT and SEE...makes me smile as I think of where God is leading me and where I have come from. So check it out and thank you for stopping by and joining me on this LONG road. Can't believe there ar 95in the crew now!
P.S. Hubby is out of town so set my alarm to run early...slept in, VBS, grocery shopping, kids, and finally made myself get on the dredded smoking treadmill to get my run in and guess what??? It was pain free!! woo hoo!! Happy Running!

You're right. The messages are great for us this week too. Today's song almost brings tears for me "so I will cast my cares on the Lord... because he cares for me... I will trust in him no matter what..." Do I really? I think I'm much better at relying on my own strength. Time to get into a deeper relationship for sure...
Thanks for sharing. Love your post.
Love your post too! It is amazing how kids bring the simple things to life for us!
i have often thought that VBS would be great for me!! one of my personal challenges this month is to reconnect with my religion...so keep on posting the great VBS teachings!
